Punctuation Mark

This is the history of the establishment of several punctuation marks are often used around the world....

1.  Question Mark (?)
At first, in Latin, one must write the word "Questio" at the end of the sentence to indicate that the sentence would be asked as question.. So to save space, the word is eventually shortened to "qo", which is then compressed again into the small "q" letters above the letter "o", which eventually grew up into dots and curve like a worm, just as we are now question marks..

2.  Exclamation Mark (!)
Like a question mark, initially starting with the letters piling up.. This sign comes from the Latin word "io" means "cry of excitement" when the letter "i" is written above the letter "o", after a long time is shortened as the exclamation mark us today..

3.  Equals Sign (=)
Invented by English mathematician Robert Recorde in 1557, with this kind of thinking (in Old English) "I Will settle as I doe woorke Often in use, a paire of paralleles, or Gmowe [i.e., twin] lines of one length, thus:, bicause noe 2 thynges, can be more equalle." or translation: "I will use this sign as usual, a pair of parallel lines, or a twin of equal length, because no two things could be more similar to these two parallel lines." 4.  Ampersand (&)
This symbol is a form of "et" in Latin, meaning "and".. This sign was invented by Marcus Tullius Tiro, an author of the first century in Rome.. Ampersand name was only given after 17 centuries later.. In early 1800, school students learned this symbol as a letter to 27 after Z, but still without a name. So in early 1800, they learned the ABC (alphabet) with "and per se, and" meaning "&" and then read so fast because, eventually became "ampersand"..

5.  Octothorp (#)
This strange name for numbering sign comes from the word "thorpe", on ancient Normandy language used to said the village or farm, which is often encountered in English to place names.. Initially used for map-making, which means the village is surrounded by eight farms.. Because eight (octa) and agriculture (thorpe), it appears this name, Octothorp..

6.  Dollar sign ($)
The new American government issued their own money in 1794, and at that time was still using old world currency, the peso, or Spanish dollar.. First U.S. dollar coin exactly same as Spanish peso currency, both weight and value, so they take the same acronym: "Ps".. The longer the development, the letter P is written upon S, and then began to circle above the P was removed, so only the letter S is overwritten with a vertical line.

Rose apple salad

Since yesterday, TV in my house broken caused by my sisters.
And my brother is using my computer right now.
There's nothing I can do to killing time, so I opened the refrigerator to find food.
In the refrigerator there is a basket of rose apple from my aunt.
I have ideas to make rose apple salad.

Rose apple salad

ingredient:

• a basket of rose apples

seasoning:

• 3 pcs red chilli
• 20 pcs peanut
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 3 lumps of brown sugar / palm sugar
• 1 pc tamarind

optional:

• 1 whole garlic (not 1 clove)
• 1 whole onion
• sweet soy sauce

the steps to make:
cut rose apple into 3 pieces, trow away the top, bottom, and the seeds, store in refrigerator
to make dab seasoning:

1. cut chillis (garlic & onion if necessary) and tamarind into small pieces , add salt, and 1 tablespoon warm water, mashed until smooth
2. add the peanuts that have been peeled and thin skin removed, mashed until smooth
3. add the brown sugar that has been sliced into small pieces, mashed until smooth
4. add soy sauce as needed
5. stir until blended

for those who like spicy, the amount of chilli can be added
for those who like sweet, the amount of brown sugar can be added

Measles (Campak)

This was a few days I have to lay in the house because of suffering from German Measles.. To fill my time trying to write a little information on measles disease may be useful for all of you..


Measles
Measles (Rubeola/ 9 day Measles/ Campak) is an acute contagious disease and often lead to serious complications. Almost all children under 5 years old in developing countries will be attacked by this disease, whereas in developed countries usually attacks teenagers or adults who are not protected by the vaccine (immunization).
Measles characterized by fever, cough, conjunctivitis (inflammation of the membranes tie eye) and skin rash. This disease is caused by a viral infection Paramyxovirus group.

Symptoms and Transmission of Measles:
Transmission occurs primarily by inhaling through the saliva of fine grains (droplets), sneezing, sparks spit from the mouth and throat of infected people (water borne disease). Outline measles can be divided into three phases:

1.  The first phase (incubation) lasts approximately 10-12 days. In this phase, patients have started to become infected but not yet looked at him any symptoms. Red patches that are characteristic of measles has not come out.
2. In the second phase (prodormal) symptoms are flu-like illnesses, like coughs, colds, and fever. Eyes look reddish and succulent. When see something, eyes will be dazzled (photo phobia). Appears next to the mouth of the white spots that will last 3-4 days. Sometimes patients also had diarrhea. One-two days later, high fever fluctuated, ranging from 38 - 40'C.
3. The third phase is marked by the release of red patches on the skin, and high fever. However, indirect patches appear on the entire body, but gradually. Starting from the back of the ears, neck, chest, face, hands and feet. The color is also unique; red with sizes that are not too big but not too small

These red spots in the language of medicine called maculopapuler. Usually the spots filled the whole body in about one week. However, this also depends on the immunity of each patient. If both the body endurance red spots not too spread out and not too crowded. Generally, if the red spot was gone, the fever will come down by itself. No longer the red spots become blackish and scaly (hyperpigmentation), and then fall out or recovered by itself. This period of healing may take up to two weeks.

Treatment:

• When a mild measles, patients simply treated at home. If severe measles or complications should be treated in the hospital.
• Patients need to be treated in a separate place so as not to transmit the disease to others. Especially when there's a baby at home who have not received the immunization.
• Give the patient a balanced intake of nutritious food and sufficient to increase the endurance of his body. The food should be easily digested, because patients infected with measles susceptible another infection, like strep throat, or flu.
• Consultation with your doctor.
• The patient must maintain the cleanliness of the body by bathing regularly.
• Adequate rest.

To reduce fever, is usually given Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. And if there is a bacterial infection, usually given antibiotics.

Prevention:
Measles vaccine is part of the routine immunization of children. Vaccines are usually given in combination with Mumps and German measles (MMR vaccine/ Mumps-Measles-Rubella), injected in the thigh or upper arm muscles. This vaccine is given in stages, the first dose given at age 12-15 months, second dose given at age 4-6 years. Measles would infect only once in a lifetime. When a strong body endurance, a child may not be infected with measles at all.




German Measles
German Measles (Rubella/ 3 day measles/ Campak Jerman) glance it looks similar to ordinary measles.
This disease must be carefully watched in pregnant women, because it can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta. A woman who is infected with this disease, in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy (especially 8-10 weeks) susceptible to miscarriage, or baby will have congenital rubella syndrome. Once the baby was born, the baby will experience cataract eyes, ears suffered deafness, and even calcification in the brain, so the child can experience growth retardation.

Symptoms:
Symtoms began 14-21 days after infection.

• In children, symptoms will appear after 1-5 days, which was marked by malaise, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck and back of the head, and sore joints. These early symptoms sometimes did not occur in adolescents and adults. Then came a rash that will disappear in three days. This rash started on the face and neck, then spread rapidly throughout the body. Simultaneously with the appearance of the rash, the skin looks a bit reddish. Red spots appeared on the palate which then spread and become one and extends to the back of the mouth. Almost similar to the symptoms in the ordinary measles.
• In male adolescents or adults other than the above symptoms, can also sometimes experience pain in the testes. Sometimes complications occur middle ear infection or brain inflammation, coughs and colds, diarrhea, fever, body fever and chills, rheumatic pain, rheumatic pain all the bones, severe headache, and poliartritis (small joints were swollen and inflamed), which in turn would make the the patient must lay on the bed for several days.

Treatment and Prevention: 
For the treatment and prevention in patients with German Measles, is usually similar to an act performed in patients with ordinary measles. Can be added painkiller to relieve pain in the joints (usually patients with adult) in accordance with doctor's prescription.

Eye-B Pod

This afternoon I visited my friend who is being participated in the exhibition "Research and Development Expo" at the JCC. This is the umpteenth-time for them to participate in technology themed exhibition. This started when looking for ideas for thesis...

Brief history of Eye-B Pod
On our campus Bina Nusantara University, Computer Science majors are allowed for theses in a team (maximum three people). So my three friends namely Stanley Audrey, Josephine Klara, and Victor Kurnia intends to make writing theses wonderful and different from others, in accordance with our specialization, ie AI (Artificial Intelligence). From there arose the idea was to create a device pointer that is different from the others, these tools will allow computer users to move the mouse simply by moving their eyes only.

Computers would not be something foreign to the current generation. Almost everyone needs a computer to facilitate the daily work done, or just looking for entertainment. And of course for computer users, the device pointer to be a very important role in operating the computer. This time have so many kind of devices used to move the pointer cursor on the computer, the bookmark tool that has been circulated widely in the community including a mouse, trackball, lightpen, touch screen, joy stick, and so forth. Each pointer devices has advantages and disadvantages of each. But there is one similarity between all pointer devices mentioned above, which requires all members of the user's body movements in the run, the hand.

It's easy for normal people to move the pointer tool. But for those who have physical disabilities or those who can not control the hands properly for several reasons such as that experienced paralysis, arm injury, and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's, etc., it becomes a constraint in the use of existing pointer devices .
Based on 2009 statistical data obtained from the Ministry of Social Affairs, in the course of the 14th province of Indonesia that has been recorded there are about ± 850 000 people with disability in the arm, and also according to WHO statistics, in 2008 approximately 80-10% of human population in the world suffer from disabilities . Although existing laws regulating the disabled people, in fact they are still excluded from the world of work, because they are considered limitations prevented them from working. But in fact, behind their physical limitations, they still have the same capabilities with those of healthy bodies. This problem comes from the desire of people with disabilities to be able to obtain equal rights in various areas, including ease of accessing information can be obtained through the computer and the Internet.

This has encouraged my friends to develop a different pointer device from conventional pointer device that already exists, hence conducted numerous studies to produce devices using hand gestures pointing to a minimum or even no need to use hand movements at all.

Finally it was decided to use the eye as a substitute for hand movement. This is based on the location and characteristics of the eye itself. Eyes located on the face and its characteristics can be easily identified as compared with the physical characteristics of members of other faces. Based on the study eye is an instrument that responds when it first senses the first time a user will perform the operation on a computer using a pointer device. With such a statement is expected to use the eye will respond more quickly in the mobilization of the cursor.And was born Eye-B Pod which stands for Eye-Based Pointing Device.

Instead of using the hand, eye movement is used to control the cursor on the computer screen. How to use Eye-B-PoD is by using eye movements are captured by the input device is the webcam. Users can simply look to certain partsof the screen to direct your cursor where you want to go. If you want to perform processes such as the click of a mouse, users can simply do blink with one eye when the cursor has been located at the target.
For normal people, Eye-B Pod can also improve efficiency in using computers, because users need not be too dependent on the conventional mouse, while using eye movements, the user's hand can still perform a variety of other activities such as writing, typing, or drinking coffee.

For now Eye-B Pod consists of four features:

1. Automatic Face And Eye Detection: when a user is located in front of the webcam software that has been equipped with Eye-B Pod, automatic face and eyes are detected instantly
2. Smart Face Detector dominant: for example there are several faces in front of the webcam, only the dominant face can be captured by the Eye-B Pod.
3. False Positive Blink Detector: to be able to distinguish when the user wants to click (with a wink) or just normal blink.
4. Auto Sensitivity Calibration: calibrate automatically reset if the Eye-B Pod loss of eye blink detection.

Eye-B-Pod succeeded in becoming the second winner (merit) Indonesia ICT Awards (INAICTA 2009) for the category of Research and Development. This software continues in the development stage for the addition of other features and improvements in some parts.

Bila sedang berpikir, suntuk atau sedang bosan, terkadang tanpa kita sadari kita serinkali membuat gambar atau coretan-coretan kecil. Ternyata ada makna tersendiri dibalik coretan tersebut...

Bila anda membuat coretan berbentuk panah maka menunjukkan bahwa anda adalah orang yang ambisius dan agresif. Apabila anda menggambar tanda panah ke kiri berarti senang mengenang masa lalu. Sedangkan tanda panah ke kanan berarti siap untuk menyongsong masa depan. Tanda panah ke suatu objek berarti marah atau penasaran dengan objek tersebut.
Jika coretan berbentuk lingkaran maka sering dikaitkan dengan keramahan, senang bicara dan senang berteman. Artinya anda fleksibel, mudah beradaptasi dan menyesuaikan diri. Anda juga memiliki iman yang kuat sehingga berjiwa optimis dan pantang menyerah.

Bila anda membuat coretan geometris seperti segitiga, segi empat, persegi panjang dan formasi pola lain maka menunjukkan pikiran yang logis. Gambar ini juga menandakan pikiran yang teratur, proses pemikiran yang jernih dan ketrampilan dalam membuat perencanaan efisiensi dan tujuan. Meski orang menilai anda kolot, tapi anda mampu menyelesaikan pekerjaan dalam situasi kritis sekalipun.

Bila anda menggambar lingkaran kusut yang besar maka menandakan keinginan akan gaya hidup bebas yang menggelinding begitu saja. Sementara lingkaran kusut yang kecil melambangkan perasaan amarah yang terpendam.
Apabila anda menggambar abstrak maka melambangkan ketegangan, kesulitan dan gangguan dalam konsentrasi.

Gambar kotak memang lebih banyak dilakukan oleh kaum lelaki. Kotak yang ditumpuk menunjukkan pemikiran yang metodis dan konstruktif. Kotak tertutup menandakan bahwa anda adalah orang yang menghargai privasi. Sementara kotak terbuka mencerminkan harapan untuk menyambut seseorang atau sebaliknya keinginan lari dari situasi yang menekan.

Coretan gambar binatang mampu mencerminkan bagaimana memandang diri sendiri. Jika menggambar hewan peliharaan, seperti kucing maka berarti anda memiliki pribadi yang ramah dan sensitif. Gambar burung maka berarti anda memiliki daya imajinasi yang tinggi, penuh pertimbangan, cinta kasih dan menyukai kebebasan. Bila anda menggambar hewan kecil maka mengindikasikan perasaan takut yang tersembunyi, lemah, pasif, kurang percaya diri dan introvert. Sedangkan gambar hewan liar mencerminkan agresivitas dan ketegasan. Gambar hewan yang suka bersenang-senang, seperti anjing maka menunjukkan bahwa anda orang yang senang bermain. Gambar hewan berjalan pelan, seperti kura-kura maka menunjukkan kpribadian yang senang merenung.

Bagi anda yang sering menggambar bunga maka melambangkan sisi feminin dan keinginan melihat pertumbuhan, alam dan reproduksi. Gambar bunga juga menunjukkan keinginan berkembang dan menghasilkan sesuatu dalam hidup. Bunga dalam rangkaian bisa menggambarkan rasa kekeluargaan dan kebersamaan. Sementara gambar bunga dan tumbuhan menunjukkan anda orang yang sensitif, manusiawi, hangat dan terbuka.
Coretan pohon yang selalu anda gambar, maka melambangkan ego dan ambisi. Jika pohon itu memiliki daun yang lebat dan buah, ini menunjukkan anda orang yang mendambakan cinta, seks dan anak. Pohon tanpa daun dan buah, dengan daun terkulai menunjukkan depresi dan kurang semangat juang. Lalu, kalau pohon digambar dengan akar, menunjukkan orang yang mementingkan asal-usul.

Jika anda menggambar hati maka menandakan anda sedang jatuh cinta. Hati melambangkan pikiran orang yang menggambarnya dipenuhi cinta dan sentimentil.

Wajah cantik yang anda gambar maka menunjukkan rasa kasih sayang kepada orang lain. Orang yang senang menggambar wajah cantik melihat hal-hal positif dalam diri seseorang, situasi, optimistik, manusiawi, bersifat baik dan sensitif terhadap sesama. Ia juga mampu menunjukkan empati, ramah dan senang bergaul.

Tapi jika anda menggambar wajah jelek maka anda adalah seseorang yang penuh curiga, tidak suka dan tidak percaya pada orang lain. Anda memiliki jiwa pemberontak, kurang percaya diri, senang melihat hal-hal buruk dalam diri setiap orang dan situasi. Anda juga defensif, cenderung mengubah fakta karena pandangan anda yang ‘gelap’ dan sempit.
Rumah yang anda gambar maka menunjukkan perasaan terhadap lingkungan rumah, dan biasanya digambar oleh kaum perempuan. Rumah yang tidak bahagia, biasanya digambarkan dengan rumah berbentuk asimetris tanpa jendela. Sementara rumah dengan cerobong asap yang mengeluarkan asap menunjukkan anda orang yang bahagia dengan sikap positif terhadap kehidupan di rumah. Rumah yang dingin tanpa hiasan menunjukkan rasa tidak senang dengan kehidupan di rumah.

Gambar bintang dan benda-benda langit menunjukkan perasaan penuh harapan, optimisme, ambisi dan kebutuhan untuk membuktikan serta mempromosikan diri.

Bila anda menggambar alat transportasi dalam bentuk apapun melambangkan hasrat untuk pergi atau mencapai tujuan. Semakin cepat jenis kendaraan yang digambar artinya anda ingin cepat-cepat menyampaikan pendapat atau pergi.
Apabila anda menggambar makanan, biasanya memiliki tiga makna. Yang pertama adalah kebutuhan akan cinta. Kedua adalah hasrat yang ingin dipenuhi. Ketiga adalah haus akan sesuatu. Mana yang sesuai dengan anda?

Senjata yang anda gambarkan maka menunjukkan sikap persaingan dan kebutuhan untuk membuktikan diri penuh kekuatan.
Tangga menjadi pilihan anda sebagai coret maka menunjukkan anda memiliki banyak ambisi, dorongan yang kuat untuk membuktikan diri, tidak sabar terhadap proses yang panjang dan berusaha meraih tujuan terdekat.

Jika anda senang menulis nama sendiri dengan bentuk tulisan berbeda maka anda adalah seorang yang sedang mengalami krisis kepribadian. Anda tidak yakin dengan arah kehidupan anda sendiri.

Sedangkan goresan tanda tangan selalu anda lakukan secara tidak sadar maka menandakan konflik emosional dan intelektual sedang meningkat sehingga anda berada dalam kesulitan. Benar atau tidaknya makna tersebut, silakan anda buktikan sendiri.
